Jaguar Families,
I know many of you are aware that the Governor
has closed Virginia schools for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic school
year. Similar to you, I felt a variety
of emotions when I heard his announcement and needed some time to process.
Selfishly, I never envisioned my first year as
a principal ending like this. I keep
thinking about how much I still have to do personally and professionally to
grow as a leader, as well as, our goals as a school that we set to accomplish.
It still seems very surreal to me at this
point, but it is happening. I am now
forced to switch my mindset and my actions to a “new normal”, which I will do
as I continue to lead and support our school community through this
unprecedented time.
I want you to know that our whole staff has
been thinking about you and your children.
We all worry about you all and the sadness that you might be feeling as
we move forward.
Having said all of this, I know that we will
come together as a community and continue to find ways to uplift and support
each other. I know that there is no
other school that I would want to be the principal of and no other community
that I want to serve. I appreciate you
all and am here for you.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or a
member of my staff if you need anything.
The division and/or myself will be updating
you all in regards to next steps once we have them.
Take care of yourselves and your families.
Respectfully,
Ashby Johnson
